Consultant
The goal is to develop interpersonal skills
Growing up in a family-run business, conversations around the dinner table included discussing the many facets of the business—how it was successful, what more could be done.
So it was natural for Rick to use that background and incorporate it into his work.
Relationships in the workplace
Many couples and families experience issues that impact and influence their shared workplaces. Rick is able to leverage both his own background as part of a family business and also his extensive work as a psychotherapist to help identify and work on disputes and communication problems emerging from unresolved family issues that now impact the workplace.
In addition, Rick has worked with employee assistance programs providing counseling, education, and practical tips to organizations around personal issues, communication issues, and managing employees, as taking care of individuals increases productivity.

His emphasis on relationships is what enables his success: he has an informal approach, is talkative, didactic, reassuring, and always seeking answers.
Twenty-five years ago he teamed up with his artist husband, Oren Sherman, to create a curriculum for artists, building on self-esteem to enable them to do effective marketing and PR. The curriculum was awarded a grant through the NEA and aspects of it are still in use today.
Rick’s clients include small businesses, larger organizations, and nonprofits.
